If you can imagine a location at a particular moment in time, and an event which, to you, is reminiscent of the
steam era, John can make it come alive in by researching the place, applying your own description of the
season, the atmosphere, the lighting, and almost the smell, to produce a lasting and vibrant oil painting
to bring it all flooding back.
It is this ability which has contributed to John's astonishing success in winning the Guild of Railway Artists
Picture of the Year award 15 times in the last 16 years.
